What is Healing?
Healing is a holistic therapy, holistic means to treat the whole of the being... physically, emotionally, and mentally. Using hands to channel the universal "life-force energy" through the palms and fingers to bring about healing. The energy is "intelligent", making diagnosis unnecessary. Also used as a preventative treatment, as the energy encourages healing before any noticeable symptoms have emerged.

What can be expected during the healing?
The recipient often feels warmth or tingling in the area being treated. A state of deep relaxation - the majority of animals I treat fall asleep, owners have commented on the effects being similar to that of a sedated horse; head bobbing lower and lower until their chin is almost touching the floor and eyes drooping and finally closing - that combined with a general feeling of well-being, are usually the most noticeable immediate effects of the treatment, although emotional releases can also occur. A release can be anything from a verbal noise to an all over body shudder. Sometimes horses become quite itchy during a session due to the tingling sensation.

What can be expected after the healing?
The animal may have a big stretch as if awakening from a deep sleep, they will be very relaxed and most likely still dozy - horses tend to yawn alot. Another noticeable change is in their eyes, any stress/pain has gone and they appear at peace. Horses should not be ridden for the rest of the day to allow them to adjust to the healing effect and to get the most benefit from the treatment.

How long will the Healing effect last?
This is variable. For long lasting results, changes may need to be made to the horses routine. For example, the healing effect will be short-lived if the horse's saddle doesn't fit or his teeth are neglected, if he is lonely due to being isolated from other equines, or displays aggressive behaviour or vices due to being stabled for long periods etc...

How many sessions will my animal need?
One session is enough to benefit any animal. However, some cases may require ongoing treatment - how often and how many depends on the severity of the problem. Healing can be used weekly/monthly as a preventative treatment or just as a one-off treat. It is completely safe, you cannot overdose on healing!

How can Healing help with a Terminal disease?
In the case of an animal being terminally ill, although not promising a cure healing can provide pain relief and peace during what is an emotional time for animal and owner.

Do you only treat horses and ponies?
No! All animals and pets, whether they are furry, fluffy, feathered or scaly!

"I would just like to tell anyone who is thinking of having Reiki healing with Sophie about Sunny, who is a stunning 13 year old Arab cross. We have had him since he was 2 years old and he has shown and won almost all of his classes. Then about 2 years ago he changed, panicking, spooking and rearing up, we were unable to even take him to a showground. We knew there was an obvious problem and after vets, osteopaths, chiropractors we discovered his pelvis and lumbar were out of alignment and he was in a lot of pain which also caused him to panic. After treatment and rest he was then ready for working, but he was still panicking and not happy or relaxed at all, this went on for a few months. By chance I read an article about Reiki, I thought it would be worth a go so I contacted Sophie. After the first session Sunny was a different horse, so much more happy and relaxed. He has now had 3 sessions, so we took him to a local show and we could not believe how he had improved, he was back to our old Sunny. I will keep up the sessions as they really do work, so a big thank you to Sophie for helping us with our problems"

Please note: Healing is a complimentary therapy. It is not intended to replace or act as an alternative to conventional treatments given by the vet. The Protection of Animals Act requires that if an animal needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. The Veterinary Surgeons Act prohibits anyone other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of diseases and injuries and advice based upon a diagnosis. The healing of animals by the laying on of hands is completely legal - However, owners are required to advise their veterinary surgeon of the intention to use complementary therapy.
